The Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC) has distributed “response palliatives” for the people of the mandate areas of the commission. The essence of the palliative is to help cushion the effect of the novel coronavirus which has forced a lockdown on commercial activities across the country.
The mandate areas are Ilaje and Ese-Odo Local Government.
The Palliatives include sanitisers, nose masks, handwash, bags of rice and beans as well as cash gifts.

The distribution of the palliatives held at the Nigerian Navy base , Igbokoda on Friday, the 17th April.
The beneficiaries cut across all the major Ilaje communities as well as youth groups such as the Niger Delta Youth Movement(NDYM), Ilaje Vanguards, Niger Delta Women Association, Religious leaders, members of the Nigerian Union of Road Transport Workers(NURTW) among others.
According to Hon Olumide Ikuepenikan, commissioner on the board of OSOPADEC who represented the Chairman, the essence of the palliative is to alleviate the effect of the “stay at home” order of the Government as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic , noting that the board of OSOPADEC is very concerned about the welfare of the people.
He advised the people of the mandate areas to stay safe and keep away from crowded environment.

A total of 1,925 5KG bags of rice, 275 10KG and 57 50KG were distributed to the people of the two Local Government.
Also 5KG of 925 bags of beans and 865 bags of 10KG beans were also distributed.
A beneficiary of the OSOPADEC largess and a member of the NURTW, Ikudehibo Ademola Peter said it is good for OSOPADEC to respond to the hues and cries of the people.
He however thanked the OSOPADEC management for being so proactive in this trying times.
