Contributory Health Insurance Scheme to make health care accessible, affordable says Gov. Akeredolu

The Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has taken the ongoing sensitization on the State Contributory Health Insurance Scheme to the doorsteps of the people of Ijebu-Owo in Owo Local Government Area of the state.

Addressing the congregation of St Patrick’s Anglican Church Ijebu-Owo during a Special Service to commemorate Saint Patrick’s Day, Governor Akeredolu said arrangements have reached advanced stage for the commencement of the Health Insurance Scheme in Ondo State.

The governor who said the introduction of the health scheme was a deliberate policy of his administration at making health care delivery accessible and affordable to all, added that in view of  the passage of the  bill by the State House of Assembly and its signing into Law by him, the board to midwife the scheme would soon be inaugurated.

Other benefits of the Contributory Health Insurance Scheme, according to the governor, include; ensuring that all residents of Ondo State have financial protection, physical access to quality and affordable health care services.

Governor Akeredolu who is the  Chancellor of the Owo Diocese,Anglican Communion added that the Scheme will maintain high standard of health care delivery services within the Health Sector and ensure efficiency in health care delivery among others.

The high point of the 2018 Saint Patrick’s Day Celebration was the conferment of an award on Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN for his enumerable contributions to the growth and development of the church and humanity.

Also to make the day memorable in the presence of the Almighty was the recognition of five other Christians whose remarkable contributions to the church were similar to what  Saint Patrick’s did in the propagation of Christianity.

The occasion was also used to present gifts to children in the church who are in Primary and Secondary Schools for their excellent performances in some academic competitions in the Diocese.

Arakunrin Akeredolu while commending the Church for appreciating the little he has been able to contribute, noted that the award will spur him to continue to serve God and His people.

Speaking to newsmen the Vicar/Archdeacon of Owo Archdeaconry, Venerable Oluwarotimi Komolafe, explained that the award bestowed on the governor and five others was in recognition of what Saint Patrick lived for which was the promotion  of the gospel.

He said Arakunrin Akeredolu deserved the award in view of  his highly commendable contributions to humanity and Christianity .

“The Governor is a supporter of everything that has to do with the gospel of God, hence the need to appreciate him for his numerous support and contributions to the work of God”, he said.

Other awardees include, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Olugbenga Ale; Mrs Oluwatoyin Olakunrin, Mr Tunde Adesida, Commander Jacob Obajolu, Mr Olayide Adelaide, Captain Tajudeen Alao and Hon Niran Sule-Akinsuyi.

Dignitaries who attended the Spevial Service are: Commissioner for Agriculture, Otunba Gboyega Adefarati; his counterpart in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Otunba Timehin Adelegbe;  Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Rt. Hon. Taofeek Abdusalam; Honourable Commissioner for Physical and Urban Development, Prince Solagbade Amodeni and Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, Engr Raheem Aminu.

Others are Chairman, Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, OSOPADEC, Hon. Gbenga Edema; Chairman Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Femi Idris; Chairman of ODIEC, Prof Yomi Dinakin and Chairmen of  some Local Government Councils.
