Press Release

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State is amazed at the way and manner in which the All Progressives Congress (APC) is celebrating the purported resignation of those they describe as Special Assistants (SAs) and Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) to the Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko.

To this end, the PDP is calling on the APC to stop mocking itself for celebrating fake and fabricated resignation letters of their members and allies who they describe as appointees of the Ondo State governor.

The attention of the general public is hereby drawn to the fact that such letters of resignation being hyped and celebrated on different Print and social media platforms are handiworks of the APC in Ondo state .

Many of those whose resignation letters are publicised have since been members and collaborators of the APC and these are facts known to the leadership of the PDP in Ondo State and some informed members of the public.

Why should the APC celebrate the defection of people who have been with them long ago but just felt pierced by their conscience and decided to formally quit rather than continue to bite the finger that fed them?

The public should take particular cognisance of the contents of these letters which bear the same subject, grammatical construction , thoughts and circulated by same set of people in the media.

This implies that they emanate from and are engineered by one source, the APC. It appears that the APC members think that they are embarrassing the Ondo State government or the PDP but they fail to realise that they are embarrassing and mocking themselves. They do not have anything to celebrate in the real sense.

It is instructive to notify the public that it has been a deliberate policy of the Mimiko led PDP government in Ondo state not to sack any worker or appointee on account of the individual’s political belief.

The PDP in Ondo State has noted for long the political stand and leanings of those persons whose resignation letters are being celebrated but in a bid to adhere to the party’s policy, the PDP decided not to sack anybody.

The party maintains that it would still not sack anybody notwithstanding the shameless celebration embarked upon the APC.

Even though government has refused to sack anyone, if such traitors decide to leave on their own will, they should not be impeded.

However, this should not call for celebration in the camp of the APC. Since the PDP does not have anything to lose from the defection of these individuals, so does the APC have nothing to gain from them.

It would be absolutely difficult for the APC in Ondo State to rescue itself from the irreparable damage that has already been done to the image of the party in the State.

It is no news that the APC is left to contend with its thin membership after its ‘ padded’ primary governorship election which led to irreconcilable division and defection of over 60 percent of its members.

Succinctly put, rather than celebrate fabricated and fake resignation letters, we expect the APC to continue to mourn its loses and its impending failure in the next governorship election in Ondo State.
