Cancer Control: Mrs Akeredolu leads state advisory committee to a special training conference

First lady of Ondo State and Chairman, Ondo State Cancer Advisory Committee, Her Excellency, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu- Akeredolu led some of the members of her committee to a 3 day Multidisciplinary Cancer Management Course (MCMC) organized by Society of Oncology and Cancer Research of Nigeria (SOCRON) in collaboration with American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).

The theme of the conference holding at Raddison Hotel Ikeja Lagos is; “Implementation of Resource-Level Appropriate Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention and Management.

Mrs Akeredolu who is also the founder of Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN) is expected to make a presentation at conference.

Participants are being exposed to; Chemotherapy and Breast Cancer Management,

Current Management of Breast Cancer in Nigeria,

Palliative care and Advanced Cancer,

Resource appropriate guidelines of management of breast cancer in Nigeria,

Principles of implementation science in the cancer care continuum 1.

Also participating are members of Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria, Cancer based NGOs, Oncologists and other medical personnel, relevant professional bodies, and government agencies.

Some of the resource persons billed to lecture are; Prof. Benjamin O. Anderson M.D, Chair and Director Breast Health Global Initiative; Professor of Surgery and Global Health Medicine, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Washington, Seattle.

Prof Cosette Wheeler, Ph.D, Regent Professor, Departments of Pathology and Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of New Mexico, (UNM) Health Sciences Center New Mexico,

Prof. Clement Adebamowo M.D, D.Sc. Director, Global Health Cancer Program and Associate Director ( Population Science) Greenabaim Cancer Center, University of Maryland School of Medicine Baltimore.
