Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN) a leading non-governmental organisation galvanising action against breast cancer in Nigeria will join the rest of the world to mark this year’s World Cancer Day with various activities lined up in its chapters across Nigeria.
The NGO which was founded in 1997 has raised and spread awareness about Breast Cancer in Nigeria and beyond with focus on awareness, support and advocacy.
The World Cancer Day (WCD) is one of many well-structured programmes the Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria conducts every year to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection and treatment. WCD is a day set aside targets misinformation, raises awareness and reduces stigma about all types of Cancer.

BRECAN IMO STATE CHAPTER
1st of February 2018
Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN) Imo Chapter will mark the World Cancer Day 2018 on the 1st of February 2018 with a Town Hall meeting in Owerri with the theme: Town Hall on Cancer.
The aim is to sensitise and dialogue with 2000 individuals of various social strata (Market women, Clergies, Youth, Political office holders etc.) on the state of Cancer care in Owerri and the way forward.

BRECAN ABUJA CHAPTER
4th of February 2018
On the 4th of February, 2018, the Abuja chapter of Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN) is organizing a public lecture together with her launching and fundraising programme to commemorate the 2018 World Cancer Day with the theme: Together We Can Make a Difference.

BRECAN ENUGU STATE
4TH of February 2018
Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN) Enugu Chapter will participate in a Television program at the Enugu State Television to sensitize the general public on Cancer and its risk factors to mark the 2018 World Cancer Day with the theme: Cancer and Risk Factors.
The aim to sensitize Enugu State Television viewers on the risk factors of the common forms of Cancer and emphasize the importance of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccine.

BRECAN KOGI STATE CHAPTER
5th of February 2018
The Kogi State Chapter will mark the world cancer day with one of the largest market outreach in Kogi state to increase awareness and knowledge about Cancer, especially Breast cancer amongst women in commemoration of the 2018 world cancer day with the theme: We Can; Inspire Action; Take Action
The aim is to promote healthy lifestyle and emphasize the importance of early detection and presentation of all forms of cancer amongst market women in order to promote family health.

BRECAN ONDO STATE CHAPTER
6th of February 2018
Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN) Ondo Chapter will mark the World Cancer Day 2018 with lectures in secondary school across the state to increase awareness and knowledge about cancer, especially Breast Cancer. The Theme is Healthy Lifestyle and Cancer
The aim is to improve the cancer awareness level of the students and encourage them to become advocates of Cancer diseases among their peers, families and the community at large, thereby enhancing a positive attitudinal change in relation to Cancer.

BRECAN LAGOS STATE CHAPTER
7th of February 2018
Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN) Lagos Chapter in collaboration with Command Day Secondary School, Maryland, Lagos, is organizing a seminar for 1000 secondary school students to mark the 2018 World Cancer Day on the 7th of February 2018, with the theme: Healthy Lifestyle and Cancer
The goal of the seminar is to sensitise 1000 teenagers and young adults on Cancer Prevention and Lifestyle.

BRECAN OYO STATE CHAPTER
7th of February 2018
The Oyo state chapter of Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN) will commemorate the 2018 World Cancer Day through Seminar in Secondary Schools with the theme: Healthy Lifestyle and Cancer
The aim is to sensitize 500 teenagers and 1000 adult on Cancer Prevention and Lifestyle as we commemorate the 2018 World Cancer Day.
