Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) paid an academic excursion to the Ondo State Agency for Road Maintenance and Construction (OSARMCO) yesterday at the office yard at Aponmu, Akure.
In their welcome remarks, the quarry supervisor, Engr.Ayeyemi Oladipupo, the Admin. Officer, Mr. Toye Ibironke and Mr. Okunrinsagba Joseph welcomed the 100 level students of the Department of Mining and their lecturer, Engr
Adesida Patrick Adeniyi to the agency. Engr. Ayeyemi Advised the students to comport themselves and be inquisitive with what they come across during the exercise. “Anyone of you can rise up to be the best you want to be.
Your background and circumstances cannot and should not be an obstacle to your dreams”, Engr. Ayeyemi emphasized.
For three and half hours, the students were edified by the staff of the agency who took them round the various sections of the agency; Quarry section, Crushing section, Asphalt plant section and Workshop section.
The lecturer, Mr. Adesida, who led the students of his department on the academic excursion to the agency, was awed by the level of intellectual and professionalism displayed by the agency’s staff who welcomed and took them round the various sections of the agency.
Adesida made the call after the students were taking through the practical and strategic processes of the Engineering practice, as well as career opportunities the study of mining avail the students.
He explained that, going on academic excursion and industrial training exercise avail students in tertiary institutions especially universities, practical experiences that prepare them for career grooming and competitive advantage at job market.
They thanked the management for the privilege and the long lasting relationship between the agency and the institution in terms of excursion and industrial training and took group picture with the staff of the agency.
