Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN has admonished citizens of the state to continually embrace peaceful coexistence towards accelerating development.
The governor said the resurrection of Jesus Christ is primarily based on the entrenchment of peace among nations and people of the world, hence all Christians must at all times abide by the teachings of Christ who is the Prince of Peace.
Governor Akeredolu who was addressing the congregation during the Easter Sunday Service held at St. Andrew’s Cathedral, Imola, Owo used the occasion to enjoy the people of Owo to ensure that peace reign supreme in the ancient kingdom as a mark of honour to its late king, the Olowo of Owo, Oba Folagbade Olateru-Olagbegi who joined his ancestors during the past week.
“Our late Kabiyesi was a man of peace and I’m sure he must be resting in peace, so we must allow peace to reign as a mark of honour to him”, he said.
Earlier, in his sermon titled: Resurrection, the Foundation of Christian Faith, the Bishop of Owo Diocese, Anglican Communion, Rt. Rev. (Dr) Stephen Fagbemi, said if Jesus had not resurrected christian faith would have been in vain.
He said Christianity is a unique faith not based on hearsay but premised on the revelation of God to mankind and His love for man.
The Bishop said the resurrection of Jesus Christ have witnesses consequent upon the fact that Jesus Christ showed himself to alot of people including Mary Magdalene and some of his disciples which thereby confirmed that Christians are serving a living God.
He added that every good thing that God had purposed no matter how seemed difficult would be made possible thereby buttressing God’s faithfulness to his words.
While saying that the resurrection of Jesus Christ had shown that death has become a means to eternal life and that death was no longer an end to everything, Bishop Fagbemi added that by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Christians have been charged to continually embark on envagelism by telling the Good News of Jesus Christ to the world.
He used the opportunity to solicit support and prayers for the government of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu who according to the Bishop is on the side of the people of the state through its commitment to the delivery of various life charging projects for the well-being of the citizenry.
“Arakunrin Akeredolu is our governor in Ondo State and the Chancellor of our Diocese, we owe it a duty to continue to pray for him, his government and the people working with him, more so that he is performing well.
“We can see various projects by his government across the state. We must continue to pray for him and the president. And you must continue to tell the good stories concerning our governor, just like Mary Magdalene and the disciples did,” he said
