Arabirin Akeredolu who expressed appreciation for the honour, added she developed interest in young people especially girls having travelled widely and seen what young people are doing with technology.
The wife of the governor recounted fondly how 100 girls in Ondo State who had never touched computers before in their lives were trained and within two weeks became empowered digitally.
“My focus has always been on young people most especially girls. What I wanted to do was to replicate what I have seen in the U.S and Canada where young people get engaged.
We trained girls from JSS1 to SSS3 classes who were from humble background and it was a huge success beyond anybody’s imagination.
At the end of the day, we made sure they all went home with tablets”, she added as she thanked all those who supported the Ondo State Girl Child ICT Training , especially the corporate sponsors.
