The Wife of the Ondo State Governor, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu has again reiterated the commitment of the Oluwarotimi Akeredolu led government towards ensuring that women are empowered to become productive members of the society through skill acquisiton.

She gave this charge at the rounding off ceremony of the 5 day Intensive Training programme in Ilaje Local Government Area, organised by her Office in conjunction with Make Mee Elegant; Betty Anyanwu Akeredolu Foundation (BAAF) and Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN) where over 150 young and vulnerable women were given skill acquisition.

Mrs. Akeredolu charged the participants to form a cooperative society and further affirmed the readiness of the government to partner them so that the skills learnt does not become a waste. “The administration of Arakunrin wants to make everybody productive. The goal here is to ensure that our young lady put into use what they have learnt today so that this is not a wasted effort and there is no other way to do it than formation of cooperative society. You have acquired skills and now, you can put into use to generate money”

The First Lady of Ondo State later presented certificates to the over 150 participants who were trained on how to make do Make- Up, Bags, Wigs, Shoes, Bridal Hand-Fan, Liquid Soap, Air-Freshners, among others at the 5 day free empowerment programme

The Chairperson of Ilaje Local Government Area, Mrs. Funbi Aworetan in her welcome address affirmed that Ondo State women are in for better deal under the APC led government. She noted that the empowerment programme will go a long way in improving the lives of women who represents the substructure of the family, she thanked the First Lady for taking empowerment programme to another level.

Mrs. Aworetan also assured that modalities will be put in place to ensure that the participants maximally utilize the skills learnt while requesting that the programme should be held periodically.

The Trainer and the Chief Executive Officer of Make Mee Elegant, Mrs. Kehinde Okaroafor in her remark thanked the First Lady for the opportunity while also promising to set up some of those trained.

Mrs. Juliet Ogbogu, BRECAN National President in her remark used the opportunity to talk about breast health awareness and also trained the women on self breast examination while highlighting how to prevent breast cancer.

The participants expressed their gratitude for the opportunity given to then and expressed hope that the empowerment programme will go a long way in improving their lives and curbing unemployment amongst youths of Ilaje Local Government Area.
