The Progressives Governors forum has restated its loyalty to President Muhammadu Buhari and given unflinching support to all efforts to reposition the party for better performance at all levels of governance.
Addressing newsmen at the end of the consultative meeting of the National Working Committee of the APC with the Governors for the month of April held at party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, Kaduna State Governor, Nasiru Ahmed El-Rufai said the meeting expressed happiness that the nation’s economy was improving under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The meeting according to Governor El-Ruai also commended President Buhari for his efforts at entrenching sound values in governance through his administration’s zero tolerance to corruption and for the President’s unrelenting efforts at sustaining adequate security for the country.
Consequently,Malam El-Rufai stated that the Progressive Governors resolved to work assiduously with the party organs by supporting and strengthening it for better performances on its electoral promises as encapsulated in the change agenda.
On the party Mid-term convention, Governor El-Rufai said a definite date would be announced at its next month consultative meeting after all preparations should have been concluded for a successful convention.
The meeting also resolved to contact party members, friends and friendly donors through the governors for a renewed commitment to adequate funding of the party without touching government treasury for funding the party.
Earlier the All Progressive Congress. APC, had through its National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun expressed confidence that its ongoing consultations with critical arms and tiers of governments would bring about quality delivery of service to Nigerians.
The APC National Chairman said “the county though was passing through tough times”, the best of ideas must be integrated into governance for Nigerians to appreciate the ruling party’s change mantra.
Chief Odigie-Oyegun acknowledged that” the Party, the executives, the National Assembly and of course the governors are facing so many challenges”, but with the ongoing consultations the best of ideas will be generated, “for better service delivery” .
He equally expressed optimism that the APC National Working Committee’s consultation with the APC National Assembly caucus would bring about a responsive National Assembly committed to they yearnings and aspirations of all Nigerians.
Twenty out of the twenty four governors of APC attended the meeting which Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, attended for the second time as the governor of Ondo State.
The ongoing APC consultation held it’s inaugural meeting last month during which, Arakunrin Akeredolu was specially recognised and welcomed by the National Chairman of APC, Chief John Odigie Oyegun.
Before the commencent of business at the meeting, a-minute silence was observed in honour of the first civilian governor of Osun State who was until last week was a serving senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Isiaka Adeleke .
