Monday evening at a popular Hotel in Ijapo Akure. It was a gathering of virtually all appointees and prominent members on the platform of the party from the two councils. From the Works Commissioner, board members, Chairmen of both councils, SAs, Supervisory Councillors, NURTW Chairman, ward executives and party members, they were all there.
The mission was: avowed commitment to the cause of ensuring Governor Akeredolu’s re-election for a second term, under the auspices of AKETI Continuity Mandate Group with the the slogan “Akure for AKETI.”

Coordinator of the group and Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Saka Yusuf Ogunleye said based on what he has been doing for the kingdom, Akure could not afford to dump Governor Akeredolu now.

“Our Governor beliefs Akure should be a befitting state capital in term of infrastructural development. And he is not paying lip service to the agenda. No government in the past has been committed to the development of Akure as Governor Akeredolu.
The roads, which he has completed and those under construction are testimonies to this. By the time the Oda road dualization, Oba Osupa-Ijoka/Oke Alafia and others are completed, Akure will be a much improved capital city infra structurally.
Furthermore, this government made one of us a minister at the federal level. And here in Ondo State, we have Commissioner for works, Commissioner for Natural Resources, Special Advisers on multilateral and energy, five cabinet members from the kingdom. What else do we want from this government? Akure has never had it so good before as APC is doing. Let us reciprocate his love for us.”

He said Akure South and North could no longer afford disunity, adding that it has denied the kingdom so many opportunities in the past.

“The two councils in this kingdom have always been at cross purposes. Its not supposed to be so being brothers and sisters.
By coming together, we are going to achieve more. This AKETI Continuity Mandate Group with the slogan Akure for AKETI for second term is our brain child. We must bring everyone willing on board. Let us preach the sermon everywhere to everybody that Aketi is our choice for the 2020 general elections.”

According to him, politics is a game of numbers, where everyone is at liberty to express his views.

“Different groups are formed towards a goal in politics. The name notwithstanding, it is the goal that matters. As long as they are working to attain the same target, its a welcome development. We have our work cut out.”

The Group Coordinator commended party Chairman, Engineer Ade Adetimehin and the State Working Committee members for leading the party in the right direction.
