The Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, on Friday, expressed his desire to upgrade the Ondo State Specialist Hospital, Akure into a training facility for doctors.

Akeredolu made this known during an inspection tour of ongoing rehabilitation of road projects in the State Specialist Hospital by Ondo State Agency for Road Maintenance and Construction (OSARMCO) in Akure.

The Governor also said their focus would be shifted to the hospital which had been abandoned for some time.

“This rehabilitation will make the hospital more convenient and less crowded because it looks choked up now.

“We will sit down and make some informed decisions, something major to decongest the place ,” he said.

He further said the worst portions of the roads would be asphalted while those that could be patched would be done to make the hospital more sightless.

“This will let people know that we appreciate the problem here,” he said.

Speaking with Newsmen, Engr Kehinde Osikoya, chairman OSARMCO, said the clamor for repairs of road network within the hospital had been for a while.

“The road network is not befitting, so it has become expedient for the state government to tackle this road repair promptly.

“We hope to be done in 2 weeks or so, but this is just part of our general rehabilitation program which is ongoing statewide,” he said.
