The Governor of Ondo State Mr Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN has expresses his appreciation to the people of the state over their supports and prayers given to him before, during and after the last governorship election held in the state the development which he said has enable him to record success during the exercise.

The Governor also promised that he will not disappoint  the people of the state by serving them better and record more success and achievements better than he met it.

Akeredolu made the point yesterday while addressing the congregation during a thanksgiving service held in his honour at the Cathedral Church of Saint Andrew, Anglican Church Owo town.

He used the occasion to congratulate particularly the traditional ruler of Owo town, Oba Victor Folagbade Olateru-Olagbegi for witnessing what he called the memorable occasion as the second indigenes of the ancient town as the Governor of Ondo State.

The Governor and his deputy who read the first and second lessons of the service respectively, assured the people of his home town that he will not disappoint them by continue to be a good ambassador of the community and the state in general.

Earlier in a sermon delivered on the occasion, the Bishop of Ondo Diocese and the Archbishop of Ondo and Ekiti Province, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) Rt. Revd. George Lasebikan, congratulated the Governor, his family and entire people indigenes of Owo over the success.

The clergyman also congratulated the mother of the Governor, Lady Evangelist Grace Akeredolu over the Cassiopeia of her 85th birthday which coincided with the thanksgiving ceremony of the inauguration of the Governor.

The religious leader reminded him of the fact that his late father as an Evangelist in the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) called on him to rule with the fear of God and not to disappoint the people of the state and fulfill all his electioneering campaigns.

The Anglican cleric who prayed for the Governor and his Deputy to have a clear vision on how to rule the state, later warned them to beware of bad friends who may want to give them bad advise that may not allow them to deliver on the promises made to the people of the state while soliciting for their votes.

“You have come to serve and you must not fail the people, you are the Governor of Ondo State not only particular segments of the state. You are a leader of all. You must work like Joshua in the Bible, remember that governance is a continuous programme, somebody who was a Governor yesterday is not the one today”

“You must beware of impunity that normally destroy the integrity of leadership, Ondo State has been peaceful in the last few years, you must ensure the continuity of peace in all parts of the state” he stated.

The church service which was attended by politicians within Ondo and Ekiti states, featured activities like thanksgiving, songs rendition by members of the church quire and a renowned Gospel Musician,  prayers as well as bible reading.
