Akeredolu constitutes technical committee on power supply
As part of his determination to improve power supply in Ondo state, the Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN has constituted a Technical Team on Independent Power Supply Initiative.
Engineer Tunji Ariyomo, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Utilities will serve as its Chairman while Engineer O. J. Adelola, General Manager Ondo State Electricity Board (OSEB) will serve as the secretary. Other members of the team are: Mr. Femi Akarakiri, the Senior Special Asstant – Energy & Mineral Resources, Mr. Ayo Sotirin and Mr Tope Runsewe.
The team is charged to develop a framework for powering the State Secretariat, State Specialist Hospital, Streetlights and other Essential Services in Akure, the State capital.
Engineer Tunji Ariyo, Special Adviser to the Governor – Public Utilities explained that the Governor is concerned about the state of electricity supply in the State, particularly the four Local Government Areas in the South Senatorial district, which have been disconnected from the the National Grid for almost six years.
“We are working on the possibility of providing Independent Power Project for communities and towns on our Islands.
“We are talking to investors who can take over the power supplies of our essential service providing outlets – the streetlight, the State Specialist Hospital and Government House, and power it. This will make about four megawatts free for other dwellers to use”, he added.
