As part of activities marking the first year Anniversary Celebration of APC and Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu administration in Ondo state, the Governor today Commissioned the main entrance road into the campus of the Ondo State University of Science and Technology (OSUSTECH) Okitipupa and also laid the foundation of the Central Engineering workshop of the institution.
In his speech, Governor Akeredolu thanked the people for their support for over a year now thereby assuring them of more benefits of his administration. The Governor said he would work to justify the confidence reposed on him during the election that brought him in as the governor of the Sunshine State .
He paid tribute to the former governor of the state, late Dr. Olusegun Agagu who he said had good intentions for the people of the Southern Senatorial District and the entire people of Ondo State.
He however promised more developmental projects in the University of Technology and advised the students to shun the acts capable of truncating their future.
The Vice Chancellor Ondo State University of Science and Technology (OSUSTECH) Okitipupa, Prof. Sunday Ogunduyile described the 2.4 kilometers road project as pointer to more goodies in the University.
The Vice Chancellor who appreciated the governor for paying attention to OSUSTECH listed among other achievements the campus road which was asphalted by Arakunrin, said this was enough proof for a new dawn in the institution.
“Before the coming of the current administration, OSUSTECH had only one faculty since establishment in 2008 until November, 2017, when, through divine providence and invaluable goodwill as well as financial support of Mr Governor, two new faculties; Engineering and Engineering Technology, Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources were established”
According to the Vice Chancellor, the institution had also obtained approval for Statistics and School of Postgraduate Studies,
Prof. Ogunduyile posited that these and many more will reinforce the teaching and research capabilities that would accelerate emergence of the Southern Senatorial District as the industrial base of the state, especially, in the area of oil and gas.
The Vice Chancellor emphasised that with the encouragement of the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu (SAN) to establish the department of Maritime Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering, and Faculty of Environmental Technology, the Ondo State University of Science and Technology (OSUSTECH), Okitipupa would save Nigeria enormous foreign exchange expended on overseas training of professionals.
He requested speedy completion of some abandoned projects in the campus, provision of facilities for Computer Based Tests (CBT), increase and prompt release of monthly subvention among others.
The Deputy Governor, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, the State Chairman of the APC Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, OSUSTECH senior staff, Political leaders in the area and traditional rulers were in attendance.
