The Ondo State Governor, Mr Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN has promised that the welfare of civil servants in the state will top his priorities by developing them through capacity building and training need assessment.
Akeredolu who also reiterated the readiness of his administration to develop a comprehensive Development Plan which he said will focuses on leveraging the collective resources and comparative advantages for the benefit of the people of the State.
Akeredolu who acknowledged the very important role play by the Civil Servants in the development of a state which he said can never be over emphasized, noted that the development of Ondo State is a joint effort of both the government and the citizenry.
The Governor made the promise yesterday while delivery his inaugural speech shortly after he was sworn-in as the sixth civilian Governor of the state, held at the Akure township stadium.
He listed five Cardinal Programmes called “Platform for Change” (JMPPR)
Avoiding to the Governor, the Prgrammes include, Job creation through Agriculture, Entrepreneurship and Industrilasation; Massive Infrastructural development and maintenance; Provision of functional Education and Technological growth; Provision of Accessible and Qualitative Health care and social service delivery as well as Rural Development and Community Extension service.
The Ondo State Governor explained that he was aware of the many challenges facing the workers in the state, promised that his administration will work assiduously towards addressing the challenges.
“I acknowledged the very important role that Civil Servant has played, and continues to play in the development of our beloved State. I understand the challenges and these are quite apparent to those within and outside the system”
The Governor while soliciting the support and cooperation of the Civil Servants and all organs of labour operating in the state, the development which he said would enable his administration to achieve more success.
He promised to sustain and improve upon the health care delivery system currently operating in the state, , explained that his administration will ensure that people of the state have access to good health care by providing qualitative primary health care delivery system to the rural populace.
On the security of lives and property of the citizenry, the Governor promised that his administration will ensure the protection of all and sundry by engaging all those who he said will add value to act of governance in the state and ensure that peace and harmony continue to reign in the state.
Earlier at the occasion, the Catholic Bishop of Akure, Bishop Jude Arogundade congratulated the Governor and charged him to make the welfare of the people of the state as one of his priorities.
The religious leader who was represented at the occasion by Revd. Father Augustine Dada, also stressed the needs for the people of the state to cooperate with the Governor and ensure the success of his administration.
Highlights of the event were signing of Oaths Office and Allegiance by the Governor and his deputy, cultural display by various traditional dancers, inspection of guide of honour mounted by men of Nigeria Police, march-past by different schools, groups and associations among others.
