During his electioneering campaign, one thing Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, constantly harped on was the fact that his administration would priotize workers welfare.

It’s over two years already, Governor Akeredolu has continued to keep his word with the Ondo State workers. His administration is regarded as workers’ Friendly.

To Akeredolu, the welfare of workers and the good people of Ondo State remains the priority of his administration.

Governor Akeredolu believes strongly that workers play invaluable roles in the development of any society and Ondo State is not left out.

Despite inheriting an abysmal economy with workers being owed seven months salary arrears and the people generally groaning, the Akeredolu administration has successfully paid six of out of the seven months’ salary arrears. This is aside the payment of salaries as and when due. 2017 leave bonus already paid with a promise to pay the 2018 leave bonus as soon as the state is financially capable.

*Since the inception of Governor Akeredolu’s administration, there has been a monthly release of N200m to the Pensions and Transitional Department to offset backlog of gratuities of retired public servants that had served the state meritoriously.

*The Akeredolu administration has been paying pensions along with salaries of workers. This is in fulfillment of his avowed commitment to priotize the welfare of workers and that of the “Senior Citizen”.

  • In order to enhance workers welfare in the state, the Akeredolu administration released N500million as car loan for civil servants in the state, in addition to the State Housing Loan that is being constantly disbursed for public servant.

*The Akeredolu administration has appointed 15 Permant Secretaries and 1 Tutor – General. His administration also recently promoted the Accountant General of the state as a Permant Secretary. The last time Permanent Secretaries were appointed in the state was in the year 2012 thus generating displeasure in the civil service.

  • It’s on record that the Akeredolu administration cast aside the obnoxious practice which viewed all serious issues from the prism of ethnicity, religion and politics. Promotions of workers have been regular since inception of this administration. Infact, the 2019 promotion exercise had since been approved by the Governor.

These and many more have been done. For workers in Ondo State, the Sun is shining brighter. It’s indeed, a new Dawn.
