Global South Parliamentary Dialogue: Akpabio and Jimoh Ibrahim, others, have arrived in Casablanca for Nigeria’s participation

Senator Godswill Akpabio, the President of the Nigerian Senate, is scheduled to leave Rome today for Casablanca, Morocco, to participate in the significant Global South-South Dialogue. He will be accompanied by Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, who represents Ondo South and serves as the Senate chairman of the inter-parliamentary committee. Senator Ibrahim also travels from Washington, D.C., where he represents Nigeria at the World Bank/IMF spring meeting. He emphasised that the Global South-South Dialogue is crucial for poverty alleviation, food security, and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS). Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of critically evaluating and responding to the policy framework established by the Global North to ensure equitable wealth distribution. Senator Akpabio focuses on global investments related to the SDGS and Nigeria’s entitlements. He will present specific proposals for Africa aimed at poverty reduction, aligning with the Hope agenda of President Ahmed Tinubu. Senator Ibrahim said.
The Global South did not create many of the global issues we confront. Nevertheless, these challenges affect us more than those responsible for their creation. Global South Parliamentary representatives from 134 member states across Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia (excluding Israel, Japan, and South Korea), and Oceania (excluding Australia and New Zealand) arrived in Casablanca, Morocco, for an incredible dialogue.
