2016 Edo State PDP Gubernatorial Primary: PDP Congratulates Pastor OsagieIze-Iyamu…Hails INEC and Security Agencies
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has warmly congratulated its gubernatorial flag-bearer for the forthcoming Edo State Governorship Election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, describing the Primary Election that took place on Monday, 20th of June, 2016 as free, fair, credible, and a victory for those who cherish freedom of choice depicting the democratic culture of the PDP.
Prince Dayo Adeyeye, member of the Caretaker Committee in-charge of Publicity in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja said, “It is indeed a triumph of a popular candidate and victory for democracy”. The outcome of the Election in Edo State which is one of the best elections so far in Nigeria has provedto the opposition in the State that the PDP is a one united house built on the principle of delivering power to the people and the sustenance of our democracy at all levels irrespective of our various differences.
The leadership of the Party under the Chairmanship of H.E. Senator Ahmed Makarfi’s National Caretaker Committee commended the Electoral Committee led by Engr. Dave Umahi, Governor of Ebonyi State and thanked all the leaders and members of the Party in Edo State, especially, the delegates and other aspirants that participated in the poll and assured them of the support of the National Headquarters to bring positive change to the people of the State through the forthcoming Election.
The PDP noted with gratitude, the immense contributions from the Commissioner of Police in Edo State and other security agencies for providing security during the Election and hailed them for a job well done. In the same vein, the Party appreciated the presence of the Umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that observed the Election both from the State and National, and further appreciated the other two aspirants who fought gallantly to make the day a success.
Finally, the PDP charged its members in Edo State to close ranks and put behind them any diversionary politics relating to the Primary Election and work together for the overall success of the Party on the 10th of September, 2016 Governorship Election declaring that “our collective purpose is higher than the purpose of any individual”.
