Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps( NSCDC), Ondo State Command, has promised to partner with Standards Organisation of Nigeria ( SON), Ondo State, in fighting spread of adulterated products such as oil in the state.
Mr Awili Ideba Pedro, the state NSCDC corps commandant, said this during a visit to office of the state coordinator of SON, Mr Paul Oke, on Wednesday in Akure.
Pedro said that the visit was to thank SON and familiarise himself with it since he was newly transferred to the state as the new corps commandant.
He noted that the enforcement and compliance roles played by SON could not be overlooked.
” We place so much value on SON and as long I am here, our relationship is going to be strong.
“I want us to look at those people selling adulterated products and we know that SON is sincere and trustworthy to work with.
“The relationship is for mutual benefit and betterment of Ondo State.
” If those involving in sharp practices thrive, people look at relevant agencies as being compromised and not being serious.
“You play life-saving services and we do not want our personnel and yours to connive and obstruct the targets of the two organisations, ” he said.
Responding, Oke, the state SON coordinator, said the visit had encouraged and spurred SON to do more and he promised to collaborate more with the corps.
” I can assure you that with this visit, there will be more collaboration and synergy to get rid of fake and substandard products in Ondo State.
” We know that SON cannot do this assignment and that is reason that we have been involving the corps.
” But we will do more with your hands of fellowship and pursue this to the letter.
” We just need more intelligence information so that we can get to the source and root of the unwanted products,” he said.
