Members of the National Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, have been charged to raise their voices to promote and elevate the status of women folk in Nigeria.

Mrs. Akeredolu who stated that the development of any society depends on how women are positioned, emphasised the need for women journalists to be at the forefront of championing women causes through the use of their professional tools.
She further advised the women journalists to promote female education through adequate publicity, noting that if women are properly educated, they would have adequate knowledge of child nutrition.
According to her, there are affordable food items in our environment with much nutritional values, but which some nursing mothers are oblivious of, noting that if they are being educated about such, there won’t be cases of malnutrition and, consequently, kwashiorkor.
Addressing the issue of the increased violence against women in Nigeria, the First Lady stressed the need for women to re-consider how the male children are being trained about their orientation about the female creature.
She noted that gone are the days when females were being sidelined in leadership positions due to the old traditional belief that their main duty is to raise children and cook.
She lamented the rate at which young marriages crash in this century, attributing it to lack of adequate orientation for male children to understand that both partners have equal roles to play in order to build a peaceful home.
Urging the female pen professionals to increase their efforts in women and girls’ advocacy, the human rights activist expressed sadness that the structure of the world has not being fair to women, hence, the need for women group to rise and change the narrative.
Mrs. Akeredolu who affirmed her commitment towards women advocacy programmes, said the BEMORE Summer Bootcamp was designed to groom new breeds of vibrant female politicians who would be able to occupy the government’s seats of affairs and defend women’s interest.
She further explained that the need to empower women to be self-employed gave birth to the Forum for Wives of Ondo State Officials, FOWOSO, where thousands of women have been equipped with trading tools, adding that if every woman has a source of income, she would be respected by her husband.
Earlier, the State NAWOJ Chairperson, Mrs. Doris Olumoko assusx the First Lady of the readiness of the new leadership of the association to collaborate with the wife of the governor to collaborate and support her visions to promote the image of Ondo women through her life-changing women-driven initiatives.
