A Member of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Abayomi Babatunde Akinruntan, has commended the Governor of Ondo State, Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, on the appointment of the Olugbo of Ugbo, Oba (Dr.) Fredrick Eniolorunda Obateru Akinruntan, Okoro Ajija I, CON, as the Chairman, Ondo State Council of Obas.
Following the expiration of the two-year single tenure of the Ondo State Council of Obas and its subsequent dissolution, Governor Akeredolu had approved the constitution of a new Council and the appointment of the Olugbo as Chairman, Ondo State Council of Obas for a period of two years. The tenure of the new Chairman will begin on 13th of September 2019.
Hon. Akinruntan described the appointment as another confirmation of the love that the governor has for the people of Ilaje local government area of the State.
The lawmaker, therefore, thanked the governor for overlooking the intrigues in some sections of the Ilaje kingdom, saying the appointment of Olugbo would no doubt calm nerves and promote peace and unity in the land.
“I am elated that Mr. Governor has deemed it fit to appoint our revered monarch as Chairman of the Ondo State Council of Obas. This shows the love he has for our people and on behalf of the people of Ilaje, I want to specially thank Mr. Governor for this honour”, he said.
The appointment of Olugbo as Chairman of the Council of Obas is coming barely two months to the 10th Coronation Anniversary of the monarch.
While congratulating the monarch on the appointment, Hon. Akinruntan urged him not to relent in his efforts at promoting peace, unity and development of his kingdom and her people.
He also urged the Olugbo to use his new office to promote the culture and institution of Obaship and engender unity among the Obas in Ondo State and in Yorubaland.
