The country home of Princess Bar. Oluyemi Bajowa, Ode – Ayeka, Ondo southern senatorial district was agog over the weekend as the entire community came together to celebrate the life and time of The Lumure of Ayeka kingdom, HRM Oba Fredrick Bode Aiyelomi, who joined his ancestors on the 19th of February, 2019.
The celebration, a weeklong programme had started at the beginning of the week with different ceremonies by various groups and societies at Ode – Ayeka in Okitipupa Local government area.
Distinguished and very eminent personalities joined the families of Bajowa and Aiyelomi at The Methodist Church, Ode – Ayeka Local church, venue of the outing and Thanksgiving service for Late Oba Bode Aiyelomi as the church auditorium was filled to capacity.
In his sermon at the church event, Very Revd M.A Ogunsiji, who had served as vicar at Ode Ayeka Methodist church during Oba Aiyelomi’s life time, described the deceased Oba as an exemplary Christian, a staunch community pillar, a quintessential royal father and a father to all in his domain.
The priest, while tracing the background of Oba Aiyelomi noted that the royal father was born on a Sunday, thus his name was “Abosede” which was eventually clipped to “Bode” to agree with his masculine gender.
Ogunsiji praised the doggedness of Oba Aiyelomi, whom he said single handedly built the Ode Ayeka Methodist church with his personal money. He noted that Oba Aiyelomi had a position of prominence in the church and a steadfast member whose death is a huge vacuum both in the church and the town.
“Saints like Oba Ayelomi who turned people back towards the path of righteousness will continue to shine forever,” Revd Ogunsiji enthused. While quoting from the book of Revelation 32, Ogunsiji encouraged Christian faithful to be mindful of their Christian conduct, stressing that whatever we sow, we shall reap.
Children of Oba Aiyelomi, family members, well wishers and invited guests all filed out with dance and songs for the Thanksgiving.
Gen Bajowa (Rtd), the Jagunmolu of Ikale land and his friends donated over a million naira towards the development of the church.
In his tribute, Gen Bajowa said, ” kabiesi Alayeluwa, our Royal Father, like play, you are gone forever, until we meet again to part no more! Our consolation is that you lived a good life at 90 years and left behind a monumental legacy.” Gen Bajowa, a son- in- law to the departed Oba noted that Oba Aiyelomi’s reign witnessed unprecedented development and progress in Ayeka kingdom, stressing that he felt honoured to have been bestowed the title of Ojagbulegun while his wife also received the chieftaincy title of “Yeye Ojagbulegun of Ayeka kingdom” from Oba Bode Aiyelomi. Gen Bajowa maintained that he and his wife will continue to uphold the dignity of royalty of Lumure and will continue to cooperate with the Ayeka council of chiefs for the development of Ayeka kingdom.
It will be recalled that the Jagunmolu of Ikale Land, and Ojagbulegun of Ayeka kingdom, Gen Olu Bajowa (Rtd), is a prince of the Rebuja dynasty of Igbotako Osooro kingdom and equally married from the Royal House of Lumure of Ayeka kingdom, both in Okitipupa local government area.
