As part of efforts to rid off all forms of criminal elements and ensure effective policing in the State, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has again presented 15 new pickup trucks to security agencies in the state.
The Governor, while distributing the vehicles, said Ondo State Police Command got five cars, 32 Artillery Brigade, Nigerian Army got three cars while the State Security Service got two.
He added that Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ondo State command, got three cars, while the Special Protection Unit and the Naval base in Igbokoda, got one car each.
Governor Akeredolu commended security agencies in the state for scaling down the rate of crime, especially kidnapping.
Akeredolu explained that deploying the vehicles would tackle a number of security challenges and pledged to always give adequate support to the security agencies.
“We are facing a lot of security challenges and patrols have become important. I believe that your combined efforts have done a lot to get to the roots, although we are not out of the woods totally,” he said.
Also, Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ondo State, Mr Idebo Awili Pedro described the efforts of the state government to support and partner security agencies in crime reduction as commendable.
He assured that the vehicles would be used maximally to pro-actively checkmate all criminal activities in the state.
In March, 2018 Governor Akeredolu in a similar gesture presented 10 speed boats to the Naval Operational Base in Igbokoda Ilaje Local Government Area of the State.
