Make Payment Of Staff Salary A Priority, Sports Commissioner Ogunleye Charges Ondo Football Agency

Members of the board of Ondo State Football Agency (OSFA) has been implored to make the payment of staff salary their priority on a monthly basis in the new year.

Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Saka Yusuf Ogunleye gave the charge in Akure while playing host to the board and the technical crew of Sunshine Stars Football Club.

Mr. Ogunleye said such a move would be in tandem with the style of the State Governor Akeredolu, who pays salary as at when due.

“Endeavour to pay your staff on a monthly basis. It must be your priority by making it the first charge every time you are given subvention. This will send the right signal to the world that Ondo State Government is one. It would be in line with Governor Akeredolu’s style of prompt payment of salary”

The Commissioner also implored them to ensure that all their players have contractual agreement with the the club.
“We need players, who are ours. It is not in our interest to have players, who make their name here and leave without recourse to us. Such a trend should not be allowed this season.”

He expressed optimism that Sunshine Stars would do the State proud this new season.
“I am excited about our prospects of doing well. The club has been repositioned. My expectation is based on the new technical crew and new team we have assembled.
The squad is disciplined with fresh legs and a sizeable technical crew, where everyone has his role cut out.
The repositioning is already yielding fruits. Sunshine Stars won the Gold Cup in Akure and Governor Wike Unity Cup in Port Harcourt in a matter of weeks.

While calling for unity, orderliness and decorum between the board and the technical crew, Mr. Ogunleye warned against usurpation of responsibility by any of the organs.

In response, the Chairman of OSFA, Chief Tajudeen Akinyemi said Sunshine Stars has a fixed sign on fee for its players, adding all the players have signed contractual aggreements with it.

He also disclosed that five players have graduated to Sunshine Stars from the feeder team, the Rising Stars football club.
