The Youth Empowerment Scheme of Fadama III Project which started 5 years ago with the establishment of youth villages in all the Local Government Areas of the State has been adjudged beneficial.
The latest commendation was given by Air Commodore Sunday Makinwa, Team Leader of participants of Course 26 of the National Defence College, Abuja who were in Asejere-Ileoluji Fadama Youth Village as part of the Team’s activities in the geo strategic study tour of Ondo State.
Welcoming the Team to the Village, the State Coordinator of Fadama III Project, Mr. Olusiji Olatunji revealed that the youth empowerment programme was the initiative of Ondo State Government that was targeted at reducing rate of unemployment among the teeming youth.
He said sixteen of such were in other locations in other Local Government Areas of the State, just as as according to him 5,000 Youths have benefited from the scheme in the State.
The Coordinator revealed that the Project had spent #30million to empower 300 youths in different agricultural ventures in the Ileoluji base Fadama Youth Village.
Speaking further, Mr. Olatunji said ‘ this Village has been a learning center for students of higher institutions that are in the Village for industrial attachment. He said that the Youths were not restricted to the Village, as they are allowed to seek for greener pastures. According to him ‘ the Project through this scheme has nurtured future agroprenuer that are replacing the ageing farmers, as some of these youths have diversified and expanded the scope of their enterprise ‘
Meanwhile, the participants’ Team Leader Air Commodore Makinwa who said the National Defence College, Course 26 participants were in the Village to address the theme of the tour ‘Youth Empowerment and National Security: Issues and Prospect’ expressed satisfaction about the conduct and continued presence of the Youths at the Village.
