OSOPADEC, TESCOM, to strengthen collaboration

Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC) and Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) have set up a 7-member technical Committee to look into ways to strengthen the existing relationship between the two bodies.
At a meeting held at the office of OSOPADEC in Oba-Ile, and presided over by the Chairman of the Commission, Barr. Olugbenga Edema, it was agreed that the Committee would identify public institutions in the mandate area of the Commission such as Schools and Hospitals where residential facilities could be provided for personnel.
The Committee would also recommend how “OSOPADEC teachers” could be integrated into the mainstream teaching service of the State, in addition to suggesting ways to make the area attractive to teachers.
It would be recalled that sometimes in the past, OSOPADEC ass an interventionist measure, recruited some teachers to work in the public schools in its mandate area to complement the staff there.
To manage the career progression and related issues concerning the teachers, the leadership of the Commission has been eager to synergize with TESCOM.
Earlier the Executive Secretary of TESCOM, Dr. (Mrs) Arinola Akinsete, had called on OSOPADEC to sponsor the training of teachers in its mandate area – as well as their monitoring, so that they would be alive to their responsibilities.
The Secretary of OSOPADEC, Dr. Victor Koledoye, in his contribution, said the developmental initiatives of Akeredolu Administration in the coastal areas will ultimately transform the areas into a place where public servants would desire to work, adding that in other climes, teachers were the envy of other professionals.
