Ondo governor ‘s wife Betty Akeredolu seeks attention on the state rich cultural heritage to boost IGR

The wife of the Ondo State Governor, Arabirin Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu has described the rich cultural heritage of Owo kingdom as a sleeping Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) which can be tapped for optimum advantage.

She made this assertion while delivering her speech in commemoration of the International Museum Day held at the National Museum, Owo.

She charged all stakeholders to work towards turning things around for good in Owo as its rich cultural heritage can attract IGR for the state while placing it on the world map.
Her words: “The rich cultural heritage of Owo kingdom makes it different. You can use this place to attract IGR by making people to come here and spend their dollars. Things must happen this time around. Let’s start by having baseline information about Owo. “How about having a handbook on Owo? Or having an aerial view? There is a lot we can do to put Owo on the map and I am looking forward to when we can come together”, she stressed.

In his speech, the Curator of the National Museum, Owo, Mr. Adeoye Oluwasola affirmed the role of museums as a custodian of the people’s culture noting that it continuously plays the role of an unbiased umpire in preservation, education and research into tangible and intangible heritage of the people.

Earlier, the First Lady visited the Olowo of Owo kingdom, Oba David Victor Olateru Olagbegi in his palace where she recognized the role the entire Owo community played during the election.

While noting that the time had come for the rich cultural heritage of the Owo kingdom to be showcased to the world, she affirmed her readiness to work towards making it happen.
“Owo has a very rich cultural heritage and we have what would attract people from all over the world”, she continues, “We are the ones that will drive for the patronage of this place. This is a serious Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) sitting right here. And it is the sons and daughters of Owo that would make it happen. If you are ready, I am”, she stressed while noting that this rich cultural heritage must keep up pace with modernity.
