It was a merriment galore for Ondo State children at the 2017 Children Easter Carnival organized by the Nigeria Television authority, NTA Ikare in Akoko North LGA in collaboration with the Office of the wife of Ondo state governor.
The maiden edition of the carnival held at the hilly premises of NTA Ikare had the wife of Ondo state governor, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu as the special guest of honour.
In her remarks, Mrs Akeredolu advised the children to study hard and aspire to become great professionals which she said helps in the development of the society.
Mrs Akerdolu also advised parents to join in the fight against the abuse of the girl child by raising their children equitably adding that a lot of potentials are inherent in the girl child.
Earlier in his speech, the officer-in-charge of NTA Ikare, Dapo Daramola said that the programme was brought about by NTA’s commitment to impact on their host communities and their people, particularly the children, who are the future leaders.
The carnival featured comedy, cultural dances, dance competition, presentation of gift items to the children by the First Lady.
Present at the event include; Chairman, Ondo state council of Obas and Olukare of Ikare, Oba Akadri Momoh and wife, wife of the Secretary to the state Government, Mrs Agbegunde, wife of the Chief of Staff, Mrs Olugbenga Ale, some Chairmen, Local government Caretaker Committee and their supervisors, and a host of other dignitaries.
