Ondo commissioner visits Igbokoda market

The Ondo State commissioner for Commerce and Industry and the supervising commissioner for Environment and Mineral Resources Chief Ayo Abiola today paid a working visit to the Igbokoda International Market for on the ground assessment of the market.

The chairman of Ilaje Local Govt, Hon Agunola Omomowo welcomed the commissioner to the local govt council area. The chairman highlighted the conditions facing the Igbokoda market to include: insecurity,poor sanitation blocked drainages. The chairman requested for urgent intervention of the State to avoid outbreak of epidemics in the community

“The issue of poor management of waste at the Igbokoda market is a big challenge. I want during my tenure that there must be change”. The chairman said.
” I want to implore the State to handover the security and the management of the market to the local govt “he added.

The commissioner in his response thanked the chairman and Olu of Igbokoda for their genuine love for their people. He requested for the support of all relevant stakeholders in order to find a lasting solution to the perennial problems facing the Igbokoda market.

” It is an eyesore for the people to turn the the market to a refuse dump site. Relevant stakeholders has to seat to find a lasting solution to these perennial problems” The commissioner said.

“It is our duty to duty to maintain the market,and the party was built the usage of the people of Ilaje.”He added.

The commissioner charged the chairman of the council as the chief security officer of the area to provide security for the market.

Chief Abiola assured the chairman and the people of Ilaje that the problem will be resolved in few weeks.

The Iyaloja of Igbokoda,Mrs Bamijoko Akinyomi was elated for prompt attention govt is giving to the problem facing the market.
