Meet Dr. Paul Akintelure

Dr. Paul Akintelure, a medical practitioner, Otunba of Osooro-land and Otunba of IKALE-LAND was born at Igbotako in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, Nigeria. A family Man, His Marriage is blessed with four children; 2 girls, 2boys.

Dr Akintelure started formal education at St. Anthony’s RCM School, Omotosho in 1967. His father being a teacher was transferred to St. Pius Primary School, Igbotako, in 1970 where he continued his primary education and finished in 1973.

Otunba Paul Akintelure had a stint at St Louis Modern Commercial before gaining admission into Manuwa Memorial Grammar School, Iju-Odo in 1975 . Shrewed and intelligent he came first severally in his set and capped it with a Division one grade in West African School Certificate Exams (WASCE) in 1980.

Unfortunately, his father Late Mr. S.O.Akintelure did not live to see this promising scholar-son attain this fit. He had died in 1978 in a road traffic accident. His father, however, witnessed the award of scholarship to Dr. Paul Akintelure in 1976 by the government of Ondo State.

Immediately after the demise of his father, Igbotako Youth League (anelite organization) gave the young Paul yet another Scholarship. His proactive nature made him seek teaching employment at Lubokun Comprehensive High School, Igbotako in order to save some money for his future education.

His Mother Mrs Aderonke Akintelure had the sole task of taking care of ten fatherless children. She epitomized what is means to be a mother.

After a break of one year, two polytechnics and university of Benin gave Otunba Akintelure courses of study but he declined because of his passion for medicine.

He opted for A-level School in spite of the attendant risks.

He enrolled at Federal Government College, Odogbolu. He was the best student in Science class of A-level WASCE in 1983 at FGC, Odogbolu, Ogun State, Nigeria. He was immediately offered admission into the prestigious and famous University of Ibadan where he studied medicine.

He obtained MBBS in 1990. It was not entirely smooth as the young Paul Akintelure experienced real difficulties at the University. He was overwhelmed by hunger, inadequacy and hard life occasioned by POVERTY. It was here that a battle line was drawn between poverty and himself.

He did an internship at General Hospital, Lagos and NYSC at Comprehensive health Centre at Ogunbayo Odeda, Abeokuta.

Due to his leadership quality, dexterity, hardwork and dedication to duty, he transformed the Ogunbayo health centre into the busiest in the local government.

Dr. Paul Akintelure worked briefly at Island Maternity, Lagos before he established his private outfit – BROAD HOSPITAL.

Dr Paul Akintelure was conferred with the title of the Otunba of Ossooro-Land by the Rebuja of Osooro land, HRM Oba Shadriack Gbadebo Bajowa in November, 2005. In December 2007, Abodi of Ikale-Land conferred Dr Paul Akintelure with the title of the Otunba of Ikale-Land. His people and the three major political parties in his community invited Otunba Akintelure to represent them in public office. He pitched tent with the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).

A true caring heart, he has offered scholarships to forty two (42) students and counting, in various institutions of higher learning. Otunba Dr Paul Akintelure is an employer of labour. He also offers free medical services to Ondo indigent patients. He has largely been exemplary, kind hearted and public spirited. Dr Paul Akintelure has made health care delivery services available, accessible and affordable to the communities in Ondo and in Lagos State. Dr Akintelure’s background places him best as a force for liberating Ondo State people from the shackles of poverty, illiteracy and diseases.
