The Deji of Akure Kingdom Oba Ogunlade Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi (Odundun II) conferred the tittle of the Assaju of Akure on the former Ambassador of Nigeria to Greece and Australia, Professor Olu Agbi at his palace.
The conferment of the chieftaincy tittle was held at the Ojukoto square of the Deji’s Palace and was attended by well- meaning sons and daughters of Akure as well as the political class and well-wishers. The Deputy Governor, Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo who represented the Governor at the event described Prof Agbi as a round peg in a round hole who deserved the honour being conferred on him by the Deji of Akure Kingdom. He was optimistic that the new Assaju will perform creditably well with the new responsibility being bestowed on him.
The event was equally attended by his powered delegation of the state government led by the Deputy Governor. Others include the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr. Kola Ademujimi, Hon Bamiduro Dada (Comm for Local Govt & Chieftaincy Affairs), Hon Eyitayo Jegede (Attorney General & Comm for Justice), and Architect Jide Adejuyigbe (Comm for Education).
Others includes the former Governor of the old Ondo State, Evangelist Bamidele Olumilua, Chief Olu Falae, Sheik Yayi Akorede, Chief (Dr) Ogunleye, Dr. Laoye Adegoke, Hon. Bayo Alarapon (Executive Chairman, Akure South), Dr. Dare Bada, Hon Adedayo Omolafe (Expensive) among others.
