Engineer Ogunwa Omoniyi Oboli’s Giant Strides Speak For Itself

He is many things to many people, but to the majority, he cuts across as a hardworking tactician and master strategist. I am talking about no other person but Ogunwa Omoniyi Oboli, a native of Ode-Aye in Okitipupa local government of Ondo state. His journey to mother earth began on the 29th of December, 1962. Of course, at birth, his parents had no inkling that providence had just blessed them with a child who will grow up to be an outstanding star, outshining many other stars in the galaxy; like every committed parents, his parents prayed and the result of their prayers is no doubt the success story of the brand Ogunwa Niyi Oboli.

His education began at the LAP primary school Ode-Aye, where his earlier trail of brightness had shone when he had double promotion to compensate for his academic wizardry as a pupil of the school.

Prior to this time, he had attended Saint Gregory primary school also at Ode-Aye. He followed up on his academic pursuit by attending Baptist Grammar school, Ode-Aye between  1975 and 1981. He later gained admission to study civil engineering at the University of Ilorin, Kwara state, where he graduated with an enviable honours degree in 1987.

Oboli bagged Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) in 1993 having attended the ICAN Training school, Lagos. Not tired of acquiring academic laurels, he proceeded to Lagos state University, Ojo Lagos for his master’s of science degree in 2005. One is therefore not surprised that Engineer Oboli belongs to many professional bodies of reckoning in Nigeria: he is a member of Nigeria society of Engineers with the membership status of an Associate (COREN Registered), Fellow, Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, Associate, Nigerian Environmental Society to mention but a few.

Engineer Niyi Ogunwa has a background that is rich in multi-disciplinary specialisation, which cuts across several facts of human endeavour. These include but not limited to Engineering project management, financial Accounting/Management services, Tax planning and Management consulting services, Environmental planning, Management and control, Education Training, Development and management, Facilities management, Corporate Governance, Politics and community service.

In the course of his career projection, he worked in different sectors of the nation’s economy from construction to maintenance, consulting, Facility management and many more.

Honourable Ogunwa Omoniyi presently occupies a top notch vantage position as the Managing Director of Okitipupa Oil Palm plc,(OOPC), an appointment he got on the 15th of March, 2012. His responsibilities include the management, administration, revamping and overhauling of the facility. In the few years that he has been on the management of the OOPC, he has deployed his managerial skill towards bringing the outfit to its old glory. The economy has been bad, no doubt, but under Ogunwa’s management, the oil palm plc has been restructured to bring out the best from the palm oil producing company; the people of the state are the better for it.

Among the relevant projects he has undertaken are:

  •       Redesign, evaluation and supervision of the construction of the Ondo State Semi-Mechanized Abattoir.(2013 to 2015)
  •       Project Monitoring of the whole 18 LGA of Ondo state (2014)
  •       Project Monitoring of OSOPADEC projects in Ondo state (2012 to 2014)
  •       Review of the design and evaluation of BEME of rehabilitation of Igbokoda – Ugbonla Road (2014)
  •       Review of the design and evaluation of BEME of mega schools (SUBEB) Ondo state (2012 – 2014)
  •       Review of the design and evaluation of BEME of proposed Local government township roads, 2km per local Government under SURE-P. (2014)
  •       Technical Committee member for the establishment of the Ondo State Free Trade Zone Project (2014 – date)
  •       Project Monitoring of Ministry of Education projects in Ondo State (2012 to 2013)
  •       Technical Committee member for the establishment of Standard Cultural Centre – Idanre Hill, etc in Ondo State (2015 till date)
  •       Supervision of Ondo State Moderon Stadia in Ondo State.

  •       Ode-Aye township development activities through the FODA.
  •       Educational Infrastructural Development: Co-funded 2 six rooms’ toilets in public primary schools, Ode-Aye, 2006).
  •       Care for the Elderly and Widows (Confidential) Being a ‘prophet’ who is appreciated at home, he bagged the chieftaincy title of Araba of aye kingdom , a very prominent chieftaincy title in Aye Kingdom .He has also been appreciated and awarded with the following special laurels:

Honourable Ogunwa, though a man with a busy schedule, still finds time to take care of his social engagements. He belonged to several social clubs such as ‘Ode Aye Development Association (Lagos)’, where he served as Financial Secretary from 2000 to 2005, and Layelu Club of Ode Aye.

Engineer Ogunwa Oboli’s project execution and monitoring savvy has endeared him to the powers that be in Ondo State. Little wonder what he was a member of the Technical Committee of the establishment of the Ondo State Free Trade Zone Project.

As a politician, there is no gain saying the fact that he has a big heart and he is always willing to apply his God given intellect towards the advancement of humanity.
